Personnel Security Specialist

-Provides technical assistance and direction to servicing Human Resources Office staff in regional offices concerning background investigations of applicants and employees. -Ensures compliance with Office of Personnel Management (OPM), Department of the Interior, and Reclamation policies and procedural requirements on personnel security and suitability issues. -Initiates and adjudicates background investigations and makes final suitability determinations for applicants, employees, and contractors. -Initiates and adjudicates background investigations for national security clearances and makes recommendations for final security determinations to the Chief Security Officer. -Initiates and adjudicates background investigations and makes final suitability determinations for applicants, employees, and contractors. -Initiates and adjudicates background investigations for national security clearances and makes recommendations for final security determinations to the Chief Security Officer. To qualify, your resume must clearly describe experience that demonstrates the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to meet Specialized Experience requirements, as follows:
GS-12:
One year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-11 level in federal service or equivalent. Examples of specialized experience include analyzing, evaluating, and adjudicating complicated reports of investigation for suitability and the granting of national security clearances, including the experience to make final adjudicative determinations with limited oversight and review from senior personnel security specialists and supervisors. GS-12:
To meet the specialized experience requirements for this position, applicants must have experience in the actual adjudication of background investigations, including experience in making final adjudicative determinations. Experience that is limited to initiating, processing, and screening of background investigation forms does not meet the specialized experience requirements for this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
