Supervisory Accountant

Advises agency officials on financial operations and services and serves as the agency's technical expert and consultant on all financial operations, to include administrative accounting, travel, credit card programs, disbursements and auditing functions related to non-salary appropriated expenses, and government-wide programs such as travel systems and administrative accounting for the entire SBA. Develops and monitors effective and efficient controls within the policies, procedures, processes, and systems. Works in partnership with the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO)'s Office of Financial Systems, the Office of Disaster Assistance (ODA), the Department of Treasury, General Services Administration (GSA) external contractors, and other financial partners in strategic planning, development, and operations of financial management systems requiring government-wide and agency level participation. Executes administrative and personnel management responsibilities related to accounting programs/activities. Plans and assigns work to be accomplished by subordinates and develops performance standards and evaluates work. GS-15:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector:
developing and implementing policy and procedures related to financial management; and presenting findings and reports using qualitative and quantitative approaches related to financial management systems requiring government wide implementation; and supervision of financial management teams. These qualifications must be clearly reference in your resume. AND Mandatory Education Requirement for the Accounting series (GS-0510):
Transcripts (official or unofficial) must be submitted in support of this education requirement. If selected, official transcripts will be required. Successful completion of a four (4) year course of study from an accredited college or university leading to a bachelors or higher degree in accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. (The term accounting means accounting and/or auditing in this standard. Similarly, accountant should be interpreted, generally, as accountant and/or auditor.) OR Combination of education and
Experience:
at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
- Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law; - A current certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; or - Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that (a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
