Supervisory, Chemist
You will:
- Provide first-line supervision of a highly technical staff comprised primarily of chemists in carrying out assignments and functions within the framework of NEIC enforcement program responsibilities. - Work with the NEIC Branch and and Section chiefs ensuring effective communication and coordination of assigned activities within the organization. - Work with the Laboratory Branch Chief and quality assurance personnel to assure the technical integrity and completeness of Branch work products. Assure that analyses are carried out following established policies and procedures that meet the necessary quality assurance and Quality Control requirements. - Provide strategic advice, direction and support for the execution of branch planning and operations. In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:
To qualify for the GS-14 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-13 level defined as experience providing leadership to a highly technical subordinate staff, develop goals/objectives, adjusting staffing levels within the unit to accommodate resource allocation decisions made at higher echelons, and improves work methods.Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas:
1. Skill in leading diverse teams of people and overall organization in carryin gout mission. 2. Skill in managing projects and associated resources within required time frame. 3. Ability to establish and implement procedures that ensure production of high quality work that will be utilized at various levels of government. 4. Ability to identify future needs and lead organization to realize solutions to challenges. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
