Engineer - Project Manager - Civil Site


Summary:
The Denver, CO office for Collins Engineers, Inc. is looking for a dynamic engineer to be an integral part of the team and work under the guidance of the Regional Manager. The successful candidate will have a background in civil site development and have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects for CDOT, RTD, and multiple jurisdictions. May supervise a few engineers and/or technicians on a project basis.
Continuing development and participation with technical committees will be encouraged and supported.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Prepares and designs plans for site grading, drainage, paving, utilities, and roadways for public and private sector clients.
Ensures documents are in compliance with state and local codes, laws, ordinances and agency requirements.
Prepares site plans and authors due diligence studies. Leads efforts in the preparation of engineering reports, plans, and specifications.
Works closely with clients.
Aids in the development of project schedules and timely completion of projects.
Is familiar with project budgets and timelines, and apprises the Project Manager of potential or anticipates changes in scope.
Ability to supervise the work of entry-level engineers and/or drafters.
Ability to make independent decisions within a general framework.
Plans, schedules, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of assigned project work
Takes an increasingly responsible role in the management of the projects.
Will act as the Project Manager on small projects.
Assists in preparing project scoping and costs for proposals.
Represents Collins in some project meetings.
Be active in technical societies.
Be available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
Knows how to perform his/her duties safely.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year university, plus appropriate continuing education and a minimum of 5 years of experience. Has proficient knowledge of engineering software including AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write technical reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, evaluate facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
