Summary:
This position is responsible for the design, development, testing, deployment, and administration of Cognos solutions for a variety of business customers.
Essential Functions:
Develop and maintain performance dashboards and reporting for the Operations team to support the strategic reporting needs of the business.
Responsible for understanding the business unit strategy and objectives and building highly visual, interactive, and layered dashboards and reports that highlight the metrics supporting the strategy and objectives; Proactively seek continuous improvement.
Provide support and expertise to the business unit to assist with better utilization of Business Intelligence tools.
Develop and maintain standards for reporting, administration and operations including the scheduling, running, distribution, monitoring, logging, management of errors, recovery from failures, and validation of outputs for the reporting environment.
Design and implement reporting best practices, standards and procedures in accordance with the company's BI standards.
Education/Skills/
Experience:
Strong background developing data visualizations, end user reports and performing data analysis and advanced knowledge of Cognos Business Intelligence
Minimum 3 years of qualified development experience required
Experience supporting multi-cube, multi-user environment
Active Reports, Framework Manager, Transformer, PowerPlay Studio, Analysis Studio, Report Studio, Insight/Advance. Workspace
Active Directory and Group/Roles security
Passion for understanding the business unit processes and activities and creating performance dashboards, visualizations and reports that enable the business unit to measure, monitor and manage those key processes and activities
Knowledge of Data Integration and Data Warehousing concepts
Excellent SQL programming skills and Oracle relational database knowledge
Excellent analytical and organizational skills used to gather and document business requirements; strong problem-solving skills
Impeccable written and oral communication skills
Proficiency with data modeling concepts (star schema, snowflake schemas, highly normalized data models)
Knowledge of scripting languages necessary for administration and operation of application platforms
Advanced level of data quality and data validation procedures
Excellent spoken and written communication skills
Self-motivated, quality-oriented, delivery-oriented, and able to self-prioritize work
ETL/Informatica/AutoSys experience is a plus; and
Experience with SAS coding / programming is a plus
