SUMMARY
The Benefits Coach works with clients by assisting them to identify and access all applicable public benefits, including but not limited to Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Food Stamps, Medicaid, and Colorado Childcare Assistance Program (CCAP). This position works directly with clients, assisting them to maintain ongoing benefit eligibility and program compliance. Coach and provide support to clients so that they have the knowledge and resources to navigate public benefits systems on their own while empowering them to become self-sufficient.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Understands and stays current on the eligibility criteria and outcome requirements for all public benefits programs, as well as within the Colorado Refugee Services Program (CRSP) and Employment & Benefits Division (EBD).
Using a strengths-based and client-let coaching approach, helps clients to develop goals and action steps to be used in their Roadmaps, with the aim of achieving stability and independence.
Works with other LFS staff members to complete client benefit applications, redeterminations, and interviews as required by county human services offices. Receives, reviews and submits required client documents to applicable county human services offices.
Enters Roadmaps and work participation hours into Colorado Benefits Management System (CBMS).
Review request for transportation, and other county approved supportive services and enter into CBMS to ensure a continual path towards self-sufficiency.
Communicates with county and State Human Services staff to ensure clients receive timely public benefits. Advocates for clients when needed.
Schedules and conducts benefit orientations for new participants to ensure state and federal compliance.
Provides ongoing training to Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains (LFSRM) staff as needed pertaining to public benefit rules and regulations.
Serves as an advocate and resource for clients and provide equal treatment to all client groups in accordance with the agency's commitment to the dignity of all persons.
Coordinates services with other key staff to assure comprehensive services to clients.
Attends and participates in staff meetings and other meetings as requested.
Abides by high quality of standards of case management and adheres to service delivery expectations of LFSRM, State of Colorado, Department of Health and Human Services - Office of Refugee Resettlement and Department of State.
Complies with all federal, state and LFSRM contracts.
Participates in community outreach activities that advance the work and message of the Refugee & Asylee Programs.
Provides leadership in conceptualizing new program possibilities and suggesting improvements in existing programs and practices.
Ensures that program services are provided in accordance with quality assurance standards of the agency, state, accrediting organizations and HIPAA.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Functional fluency in one or more foreign languages preferred.
Skills in problem solving, negotiations, decision-making and mediating conflict.
Ability to self-start and work well in a team setting. Proven team-builder.
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide proof of auto liability insurance at the level of 100,000/300,000/100,000.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, or two
years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
