Staff Accountant

Under limited supervision, provides direct input as a part of the Finance Office team for assuring financial records are complete, accurate and comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Understands and able to apply accounting processes. Candidates from the Fort Collins or Denver area will be considered, as this candidate may serve at either office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize current and/or projected company financial position(s)
Record monthly and quarterly financial transactions and general journal entries
Prepares billings for various program grants
Tracks transactions via sub-ledgers, working with program staff to maintain accuracy of transactions and creating reporting for various funding agencies
Reconciles all general ledger accounts for programs to which assigned
Reconcile to sub-ledgers and review for accuracy
Correct any posting errors
Performs and documents complex financial analyses
Prepares schedules for outside auditors and assists in completion of the audit
Assists in assuring internal control procedures are followed
Cross-trained on accounts payable, cash disbursements, and cash receipts processes
Perform other duties as assigned

Must have working knowledge of accounting principles
Must possess ability to use Word, Excel and email:
experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge
Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work effectively in a team environment
Must be detail-oriented, with good organizational skills
Must be self-motivated, with high initiative and able to work with minimal supervision
Possesses a valid Colorado driver's license and be able to travel throughout the agency service areas. Must carry automobile liability insurance at the level of 100,000/300,000/100,000.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in accounting from four-year college or university. Equivalent work experience may be accepted in-lieu of degree.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
