PCL Construction Services, Inc. has the following opening in Denver, CO for an Estimator.
Job Description:
Calculate and prepare bids and proposals for various contract types for construction projects. Assist lead estimator on large-volume, complex construction projects. Perform bid-day assignments as per lead estimator and support other estimators to successfully close various scopes. Solicit competitive pricing from trade contractors and suppliers for pursuit support. Update lead estimator of scope and support updating and maintenance of trade contractor database information. Read all bid documents for small-to-medium jobs pertaining to their discipline. Assist in developing CAD drawings, work plans, crane pick plans, etc. Attend preliminary site visits with more senior staff for mentoring. Assist estimate lead in or populate tender forms. Use contract terms to identify risks/opportunities associated with contractor/project documents. Apply base labor productivities and all applicable factors to the quantities. Extend labor costs from productivities. Generate RFIs for review with lead estimator after reviewing specifications and drawings. Complete material quantities and construction equipment lists for lead estimator. Recognize self-perform vs trade work in scope analysis. Understand proposal requirements and anticipate needs for the proposal, such as format or level of detail. Complete final cost estimates, adding all labor, equipment, material data, pricing, documentation, overhead and profit margins and produce a final tender submission for review and approval of chief estimator and district management. Recognize risks related to project-specific requirements, site, schedule and market conditions/constraints. Develop and maintain strong customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders, and specifically trade contractors, for best prices. Job position located at various unanticipated locations throughout the United States. Position will report to HQ in Denver, CO.
Job Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a closely related field and 1 year of experience. Must have experience in each of the following skills:
Blueprint reading; Understanding of Construction Specifications Institute divisions of scope; Value engineering; Take-off software such as On-Screen Takeoff and Bluebeam; and AutoCAD software and building model software such as Revit, Navis Works, or Assemble. OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety and Health certification is required.
