An armed and uniformed security patrol officer position with a basic function of providing a secure environment for the students, staff and visitors of all District schools and facilities and to protect all District property.
Provides various support and conducts activities related to logistics, reporting, training, communications, and processes.
Participates in the planning and implementation of new initiatives.
Assesses and troubleshoots escalated problems and applies expert understanding to resolve complex challenges of stakeholders; focuses on root cause identification in order to achieve systemic and sustainable improvement.
Approves and documents exceptions for compliance record keeping and reporting.
Ensures appropriate key stakeholder involvement in planning, goal-setting, and implementation to achieve buy-in of work products.
Ensures purposeful, positive and professional interactions and relationships with all stakeholders; enables consistent application of work products across the district.
Identifies opportunities for improvement, prioritizes, and recommends solutions to management.
Implements approved enhancements to ensure consistency across the district.
Identifies opportunities to reduce costs; analyzes available data, trends, and feedback, and ensures compliance with expectations for optimal operation and goal achievement.
Conducts security patrols of all District schools and facilities as assigned; provides stationary security post duties as assigned.
Responds to all calls directed to them by either the communications dispatchers or supervisory and management personnel of the Security Department; conducts investigations of security matters.
Enforces all School District rules and regulations as well as local, state, and federal laws and ordinances on District properties and ensures that security supervisory and management personnel are notified in a proper and timely manner of breaches of security occurring on District properties or of information received that may create a security risk for District properties.
Challenges trespassers, loiterers, errant vehicle operators, and all others who create a safety and security risk to students and staff and threaten the overall security and integrity of the physical assets and property of the District.
Apprehends and detains persons suspected of criminal activity on District properties within state, federal, and local regulations.
Originates and files written reports regarding activities and incidents occurring on District properties and intelligence information received pertaining to security or criminal activity on properties or within the community.
Develops close interaction and communication with all other members of the Security Department and law enforcement agencies.
Exercises proper care and maintenance of all District owned or leased equipment, including vehicles assigned to or utilized for duty.
Ensures the maintenance and good working order of District authorized firearms and maintains a high level of proficiency in the proper use of authorized weapons.
Conforms to all uniform, weapons, safety, and Department requirements and those required by licensing authorities of the City and County of Denver, the state of Colorado and Federal agencies.

Qualifications:
Previous security or law enforcement experience is preferred.
Must be able to obtain and maintain all required licenses issued by the City and County of Denver and /or a Denver Police Special Police Officer authorization; Position is a three shift operation (24/7), and candidates must be available to work all three shifts throughout the school year rotation.

Proficiency with Google Suite/Microsoft Office products, including Docs, Sheets, and Gmail.
Effective time management and organizational skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Possesses high level of knowledge of the criminal justice system and local, state, and federal laws and ordinances.
Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough criminal and internal investigations, including interviews and interrogations of victims and witnesses, recognition and collection of evidence, and accurate report writing and documentation of information received.
Ability to apply independent thinking to decision making within confines of established procedures.
Ability to work closely with all persons responsible for enforcement.
Ability to mitigate potentially volatile situations, work under stressful conditions, and work with a diverse population.
High degree of positive work and professional ethics.
Ability to become familiar with and maintain knowledge of all facility burglary intrusion and fire alarms systems.
Maintains a professional, well-groomed physical appearance.
Availability during off duty time for callback due to emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
Familiarity with the geographic boundaries of the School District and an excellent working knowledge of all building locations.
Bilingual skills in Spanish preferred.
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Post secondary education in criminal justice or related field is preferred.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
