Manager, Network Engineer

Position Summary The Manager of Network Engineering is responsible for the management of the network and telecommunications teams, defining strategy for and presenting architectural approaches for the Local/Wide Area Network & Telecommunications systems, including software, hardware, and processes that assure architectural integrity and consistency across the entire institution in support of the enterprise-level business needs of National Jewish Health.
Leads network, telecommunications and mobile device team projects and coordinates with other teams needing these resources.
Participates in an active capacity as part of the IST Security Team.
Essential Duties Researches, evaluates, recommends, and leads the implementation of new network, telecommunications and mobile device technologies Participates in the design, programming, installation, and/or implementation of existing information systems by carefully prioritizing the required portfolio of projects at any moment in time.
Manages all network and telecommunications systems including firewalls, core, distribution and closet networks, routers, network access controls, web access controls, MPLS, PBX and associated software, monitoring tools and security tools.
Develops the Network and Telecommunications Strategic Plan by understanding current state versus future state to meet user, regulatory and Best Practice needs, and develops long range goals to meet the network and telecommunications strategic plan and the NJH computing architecture.
Collaborates with the Chief Technology Director/Information Security Officer with integrating the network and telecommunications strategic plan with the overall all technology and security strategic plan.
Collaborates with other technical teams in the exchange and transfer of technical knowledge and in the development and evolution of the IS strategic plan & architectural standards, guidelines, policies and disaster recovery plans.
Collaborates with all other managers/project managers to ensure all tasks associated with projects, troubleshooting systems, and design processes of new systems are completed and meet project schedules.
Consultant to the Chief Technology Director/Information Security Officer in the planning, directing, and coordinating of operational or procedural matters to meet the goals and objectives of National Jewish Health.
Demonstrates good verbal/written communication skills to inform management, and other involved personnel to include but not limited to:
new IT technologies, IT architectural standards, management status reports of associated tasks and assignments.
Works with end-users (customers), management, and peers, to evaluate and propose feasible solutions to meet the goals and objectives of National Jewish.
Monitors the Enterprise Service Management System and assigns tickets to staff members as appropriate.
Serves as the escalation point for tickets that are not resolved in a timely manner.

Minimum
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience is required.
Work
Experience:
A minimum of eight (8) years' experience in network/telecommunications management, design and implementation is required, with at least two (2) years of prior management/supervisory experience.
Special Training, Certification or Licensure:
CCNP, CCNA Security, CCDA or equivalent experience required.
Strong knowledge and demonstrated expertise in creating complex networks to ensure the security and integrity of the enterprise data network.
In depth knowledge of the configuration of Firewalls, Intrusion Detection, Intrusion Prevention and Data Loss Prevention Systems, network monitoring tools, network equipment such as switches and routers, and meeting security standards.
Knowledge of telecommunications standards and configurations (VOIP) and ability to build telecommunications models in conjunction with network strategy.
Ability to assimilate new computer and network technologies and relate them to the needs of National Jewish Health.
Ability to manage multiple high-priority projects, team members and routine daily maintenance needs with a high degree of efficiency.
Salary Range:
