This critical position has four primary responsibilities.
The Donor Relations Officer - Annual Gifts is responsible for the Mountain Mover recurring gift program, the new donor welcome program, the development of dock donors into financial donors, and coordinating in-kind drives.
This is a Full-time, Exempt position.
Requirements:
Mountain Mover Recurring Gift Program Maintain an active relationship with all Mountain Mover Members (MMM) with the intent of increasing future contributions.
Increase membership by 10% each year (new members) while maintaining a positive net growth in members Implement all benefits associated with the Mountain Mover program In collaboration with the Marketing Coordinator, develop/maintain Mountain Mover related marketing collateral.
Coordinate all mailings to MMM - Avoid duplication with other special appeals.
Manage gift amounts and frequency within the CRM program Build a written cultivation plan for the Mountain Mover program.
Create an annual Mountain Mover budget to be presented to the Director of Development each year.
New Donor Welcome Program Increase the annual retention rate of new donors to at least 35% within the next 3 years.
Develop and implement a series of communications that go out to new donors as soon as they make their first gift.
Solicit new donors to become MMM's at an established time interval.
Create an annual New Donor Welcome program budget to be presented to the Director of Development each year.
Dock/In-kind Donor Acquisition Program Working in concert with the In-Kind Manager, devise and implement a cultivation strategy to connect with dock donors.
Capture the cultivation strategy in a written document that is reviewed regularly with the Director of Development Provide Action Center tours to dock donors as part of the strategic cultivation plan Capture dock donor contact information for future solicitation Develop and implement one annual appeal to dock donors avoiding duplication with other mail appeal efforts.
In-Kind Donation Drives Create an annual calendar of in-kind donation drives, both third-party and Action Center Coordinate any in-kind donation drives specifically run by The Action Center Contribute to the development of strategic fundraising goals and objectives through participation in development team planning meetings Provide written monthly status to the Director of Development regarding pending and successful solicitation efforts, and actual budget revenue goals for assigned programs Conduct tours as assigned by the Director of DevelopmentUtilize donor software systems to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including wealth screening tools Ensure the accuracy of donor information in the donor database for all MMM and New Donors.
Attend and participate in agency events as assigned Participate in relevant meetings and represent the agency in the community as assigned Other duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Bachelor's degree and two to four years of work experience in a fundraising/nonprofit environment with a demonstrated ability to secure gifts and meet objectives required Must have a basic knowledge of fundraising concepts, good communicator, and be a person who works collaboratively with and through others to achieve success Ability to successfully navigate prospect/donor relationships Must work independently and be self-motivated in initiating contact with prospects and donors Exceptional writing and speaking skills and the ability to use them to compel individuals to action Must be organized, prepared, detail-oriented, and follow through on commitments Ability to inspire prospects and successfully engage them in our vision and mission Must have outstandingly strong interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate professionalism and warmth when interacting with the donor community, staff, volunteers, partners & others Must adhere to the highest ethical standards, demonstrate an empathetic disposition and perseverance, and convey sensitivity to the needs of donors Exceptional relationship and trust-building, communication, listening, and personal engagement skills Possess a high degree of comfort and poise with a diverse group of stakeholders Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with thoroughness, accuracy, timeliness, professionalism, and a positive spirit Creative, innovative, and entrepreneurial mindset.
Strong computer skills including, Google, MS Office, spreadsheets, databases, email, and internet Commitment to the Where Action Matters fundraising initiative.
Familiarity with E-Tapestry or similar donor software programs preferred PERSONAL CONTACTS AND PURPOSE Develops, cultivates, and maintains donor/prospect relationships, both internal and external to the agency, with the intent of soliciting new donors towards greater gifts and/or MMM.
This position also represents the agency in the community and at various fundraising events as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The work involves the normal physical activity associated with an office environment and a development department, which may include event set-up/tear down of tables and displays and light lifting of equipment and materials.
Will conduct presentations and may participate in community committees with occasional night or weekend work and/or long days; personal transportation required.
