The Denver Sheriff Department is searching forthree (3) very skilled Criminal Justice Transcriptionistsfor the dication, transcription of Internal Affairs interviews and handling of routine office administration for the Denver Sheriff Department Internal Affairs Bureau.
The Criminal Justice Transcritpionists will assist with current cases and help to expedite furture cases.
We are seeking skilled Transcriptionists, experienced applicants ONLY, please.
Job
Responsibilities:
Transcribes, types, or word processes criminal justice reports such as statements, case files, warrants, surveillance reports, and interrogations.
Verifies information or proofreads for accuracy and correctness.
Maintains confidentiality of correspondence, files, records, and/or related information according to prescribed methods and procedures.
Keeps notes regarding names of persons dictating and time of recordings.
Maintains a variety of records, files, and books according to prescribed methods and procedures.
Utilizes a computer to input information/data and to create, edit, compile, manipulate, and retrieve files and/or databases and creates reports.
Operates word processing equipment to create, format, print, and revise letters, memos, reports, forms, labels, and other printed materials.
Prepares vouchers and invoices for accounts payable and/or receivables.
Processes invoices and requisitions.
Monitors and tracks the budget and prepares budget documents.
Computes payroll by reviewing time cards to compute base, differentials, and/or overtime pay and maintains personnel files and leave accounting information.
Provides the public with general and/or explanatory information, explains and clarifies rules, processes, and procedures, answers questions, and resolves a variety of problems within a defined scope.
Compiles information and generates reports and/or organizes information into tables, charts, or graphs.
Provides input for improvements in filing systems to accommodate needs.
Prepares and processes a variety of documents according to guidelines.
Orders supplies and materials, prepares purchase requisitions, and maintains inventory records.
Operates a variety of office equipment.
By position, maintains staff calendars, arranges meetings, prepares minutes, and makes travel and lodging arrangements.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Any one position may not include all of the duties listed. However, the allocation of positions will be determined by the amount of time spent in performing the essential duties listed above.
Qualifications:
Education Requirement:
Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate.
Experience Requirement:
Two years of experiencetranscribing a variety of records and reports in a criminal justice setting isREQUIRED.
Education/Experience Equivalency:
Additional appropriate education may be substituted for one year of the minimum experience requirement. Only education that is relevant and provides training in transcription would substitute. If using education for experience, transcripts must be attached.

Probation: The successful candidate will be required to pass a background check to include a polygraph, employment verification, education verification and complete a minimum six month probationary period (benefits will be active during this period including vacation) prior to attaining career status with the City.
